Blocks and Car Review & Gameplay Guide
I just spent the last hour playing Blocks and Car, and I've got to say it's been a mixed bag for me. On the one hand, I love the concept - it's basically a physics-based puzzle game where you've got to navigate a car through a course made out of blocks, and it sounds simple but it's actually really challenging. The blocks can be moved around to create different paths, and you've got to use them to get your car to the end of the level without crashing or running out of fuel.
At first, I was really enjoying it - the graphics are pretty basic, but they've got a certain charm to them, and the sound effects are actually really well done. The car sounds like a real car, and the blocks make a satisfying crunching noise when you crash into them. But as I got further into the game, I started to get a bit frustrated - some of the levels are just really poorly designed, and it feels like you've got to rely on luck rather than skill to get through them. I mean, I've been stuck on this one level for ages, and I'm just not sure what I'm doing wrong.
One thing that's really annoying me is the lack of direction - there's no tutorial or anything, so you've just got to figure things out as you go along. And sometimes it feels like the game is just being unfair - I've had times where I've been driving along, and then suddenly the car just flips over for no reason, or I've hit a block that I could've sworn was out of the way. It's just really frustrating, you know? But at the same time, when it works, it's really satisfying - there's nothing quite like the feeling of finally beating a level that's been giving you trouble.
Despite all my complaints, I've got to admit that I'm still having fun playing Blocks and Car. It's just one of those games that's easy to pick up and play for a few minutes, and it's a great way to pass the time. And the levels are all really short, so even if you do get stuck, it's not like you've got to invest a huge amount of time to make progress. I'd definitely recommend it to fans of puzzle games, just be prepared for some frustration - and maybe take a few deep breaths before you start playing, because it can get pretty intense.
I'm not sure how much replay value Blocks and Car is going to have for me - once I've beaten all the levels, I'm not sure I'll be coming back to it. But for now, it's a fun little distraction, and I'm happy to keep playing it. If the developers could just sort out some of the issues with the level design, I think this could be a really great game - as it is, it's just a fun but flawed puzzle game that's worth checking out if you're a fan of the genre.
Overall, I'd say Blocks and Car is worth a look - just don't expect too much, and be prepared for some frustration. It's not perfect, but it's a fun little game that's easy to play and hard to put down. And who knows, maybe you'll be better at it than I am - maybe you'll be able to beat all the levels without pulling your hair out. But for me, it's just a fun little game that's good for passing the time - and hey, that's not always a bad thing.
