blocks of color Review & Gameplay Guide

I just spent the last few hours playing Blocks of Color, and I've gotta say, it's a real mixed bag. On the one hand, the gameplay is super simple - you're just matching blocks of different colors to clear them from the board. It's not exactly rocket science, but it's definitely easy to pick up and play. The problem is, it gets old really fast. I mean, I was having fun at first, just chillin' and matching blocks, but after a while, I started to feel like I was just going through the motions.

The game does try to mix things up a bit by introducing different types of blocks and power-ups, but it's just not enough to keep things interesting. There are these special blocks that will clear a whole row or column, and then there are these other blocks that will switch the colors of all the blocks on the board. It's kind of cool at first, but after a while, you start to realize that it's all just a bit too random. Sometimes you'll get a ton of special blocks and you'll be like, "Yes, I'm on fire!", but other times you'll go through a whole level without getting any, and it's just frustrating.

One thing that I do have to give the game credit for is its visuals. The blocks are all really colorful and the animations are smooth, so it's definitely a nice-looking game. The soundtrack is also pretty catchy - I found myself humming along to the music after a while. But, at the end of the day, that's just not enough to save the game from its overall lack of depth. I mean, if you're looking for a game that you can just pick up and play for a few minutes, then Blocks of Color might be okay. But if you're looking for something with a bit more substance, then you might want to look elsewhere.

I also have to say that the game's difficulty curve is a bit wonky. Sometimes the levels will be super easy, and then other times they'll be ridiculously hard. I'm not even kidding, I was stuck on one level for like 20 minutes, and then the next level was a breeze. It's just really inconsistent, and it's frustrating when you're trying to make progress but the game is just not cooperating. I'm not asking for much, just a consistent challenge would be nice.

Despite all my complaints, I do think that Blocks of Color could be a fun game for certain people. If you're just looking for something casual to play, and you don't mind a game that's a bit shallow, then you might enjoy it. And, to be fair, the game is pretty cheap, so it's not like you're taking a huge risk by buying it. But, for me, it's just not enough. I need a game that's going to challenge me, and keep me interested, and Blocks of Color just doesn't do that.

Overall, I'd say that Blocks of Color is an okay game, but it's just not for me. If you're a fan of puzzle games, and you're looking for something new to play, then you might want to check it out. But, if you're looking for something with a bit more depth, then you might want to keep looking. I'm not sorry that I played it, but I'm also not going to be losing any sleep over it. It's just a game that exists, and that's about it.
