Box Brothers Review & Gameplay Guide
I just spent the last few hours playing Box Brothers and I've got to say, it's been a wild ride. I picked up this game on a whim, I saw it on sale and thought why not, it looks kinda fun. And you know what, it is fun, but it's also super frustrating at times. The gameplay is pretty simple, you control these two box-like characters as they navigate through levels, solving puzzles and avoiding obstacles. Sounds easy, right, but trust me it's not.
The thing that got me at first was the controls, they're a bit wonky. It takes some getting used to, but once you figure it out, it's not so bad. The problem is, the levels are designed in such a way that even the slightest mistake can lead to instant death. And I mean instant, you'll be moving along just fine, and then suddenly you'll get crushed by a moving wall or fall into a pit. It's annoying, but at the same time, it's also kind of satisfying when you finally manage to beat a level.
The graphics and sound design are pretty basic, but they get the job done. The levels are colorful and the music is catchy, it's not going to win any awards or anything, but it's not bad either. One thing that did stand out to me was the level design, it's actually really creative. The developers have done a great job of coming up with unique and challenging levels that require you to think outside the box. I found myself having to retry levels multiple times, but it was always because I was doing something wrong, not because the game was being unfair.
As I played through the game, I started to notice that the difficulty curve is a bit all over the place. Some levels are really easy, while others are super hard. It's not a big deal, but it does make the game feel a bit inconsistent at times. I also encountered a few bugs, nothing game-breaking, but it was still a bit annoying. Despite all this, I'm still having a lot of fun playing Box Brothers. It's one of those games that's perfect for playing in short bursts, you can easily jump in and out of it without having to worry about a complicated storyline or complex gameplay mechanics.
One thing that I do wish the game had was a bit more variety in terms of gameplay. After a while, the levels start to feel a bit samey, and I found myself wishing for something new to mix things up. Maybe some new abilities or power-ups, something to break up the monotony of the gameplay. As it stands, the game can feel a bit repetitive, but it's still enjoyable nonetheless. Overall, I'd say Box Brothers is a solid game, it's not going to blow your mind or anything, but it's a fun way to pass the time.
Despite its flaws, I'm glad I picked up Box Brothers. It's a fun, challenging game that's perfect for casual gamers like myself. If you're looking for something to play in your spare time, I'd definitely recommend giving it a try. Just be prepared for some frustration, and don't get too discouraged if you die a lot. With a bit of patience and practice, you'll be beating levels in no time. And who knows, you might even have as much fun as I did playing it.
