Build An Obby Review & Gameplay Guide
I just spent the last few hours playing Build An Obby, and I have to say, it's a bit of a mixed bag for me. I mean, I love the idea of the game - you get to build your own obstacle course, and then try to complete it. It's like something I used to do as a kid, but now I can do it in a video game. The building part of the game is actually really fun, there are a ton of different pieces you can use to create your course, from simple blocks and ramps to more complex things like moving platforms and tunnels.
But, as much as I enjoy building my obby, the actual gameplay can be a bit of a letdown. The controls are pretty simple, which is good for a game like this, but sometimes they can feel a bit slippery. I've found myself dying more times than I can count because my character just wouldn't stop moving, or would jump at the wrong time. It's frustrating, because I know it's not my fault, it's just the game being a bit wonky. And, to make matters worse, the game can be really punishing if you die. You have to start all the way back at the beginning of the course, which can be annoying if you were really close to the end.
One thing that I do love about Build An Obby is the level of creativity it allows. I've seen some really crazy, elaborate courses that people have built, and it's amazing to see what you can do with the tools the game gives you. I've spent hours building my own courses, trying to come up with the most challenging and interesting obstacles I can think of. And, of course, it's always fun to try to complete other people's courses, just to see how they work. The game has a really active community, too, which is great. There are always new courses being uploaded, and it's easy to find ones that fit your skill level.
Despite its flaws, I'd say Build An Obby is definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of obstacle course games or just like building things. It's not perfect, but it's a lot of fun, and it's really easy to get sucked into. I've found myself playing for hours at a time, just trying to complete one more course, or build one more obstacle. And, since the game is relatively inexpensive, I'd say it's a good value for the price. Just be prepared for some frustration, especially if you're not used to playing games with a bit of a learning curve.
I've also noticed that the game can get a bit repetitive after a while. I mean, once you've built a few courses and completed them, you start to feel like you've seen everything the game has to offer. The game could really benefit from some new modes, or maybe even a level editor that lets you create your own custom game modes. As it is, the game can get a bit stale after a few hours of playtime. But, overall, I'd say Build An Obby is a solid game that's worth checking out if you're in the mood for something a bit different.
Overall, I'd give Build An Obby 3.5 out of 5 stars. It's a fun, creative game that's perfect for fans of obstacle course games or just people who like to build things. The building mechanics are great, and the game has a really active community, which is always a plus. But, the game can be a bit frustrating at times, and it lacks some of the polish and variety that I've come to expect from modern games. Still, it's a great way to pass the time, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, casual gaming experience.
