Crazy Mechanic Review & Gameplay Guide
I just spent the last few hours playing Crazy Mechanic and I have to say, it's a real mixed bag. I went into it not really knowing what to expect, I'd seen a few trailers and some gameplay footage, but I wasn't sure if it was going to be my kind of game. The concept is pretty cool, you play as a mechanic who's trying to build and customize your own cars, and then use them to compete in various racing and stunt events. It sounds like a great idea, but the execution is a bit of a letdown.
First of all, the graphics are pretty subpar. I'm not expecting AAA quality or anything, but some of the textures and models look like they were ripped straight from a PS2 game. The cars themselves look okay, but the environments and backgrounds are really lacking. It's not a huge deal, but it's definitely noticeable. The sound design is also a bit of a problem, the engine noises and sound effects are all really generic and don't really add much to the game. The music is forgettable too, I found myself turning it off after a while because it was just getting on my nerves.
Despite the lackluster presentation, the gameplay is actually pretty solid. The racing and stunt events are a lot of fun, and the customization options for your cars are really deep. You can tweak everything from the engine and transmission to the suspension and brakes, and it's really satisfying to see your changes pay off on the track. The physics engine is also pretty good, the cars handle realistically and it's easy to get a feel for how they're going to react in different situations. However, the AI can be a bit wonky at times, I've had opponents ram into me for no reason or get stuck in walls, it's not a huge problem but it's definitely annoying.
One thing that's really disappointing is the lack of multiplayer. I was really looking forward to competing against other players and showing off my custom cars, but it's just not an option. There's a leaderboard system, but it's not the same as being able to actually race against other people. I'm not sure why they didn't include multiplayer, it seems like a no-brainer for a game like this. Maybe it's something they'll add in a future update, but for now it's a pretty big omission.
Overall, Crazy Mechanic is a decent but flawed game. The gameplay is fun and the customization options are great, but the presentation is lacking and the lack of multiplayer is a big disappointment. If you're a fan of racing games or car customization, you might find something to like here, but for everyone else it's probably not worth the investment. I'd recommend waiting for a sale or a patch that adds multiplayer before picking it up. With a bit more polish and some additional features, Crazy Mechanic could be a really great game, but for now it's just an average one.
I'm going to keep playing Crazy Mechanic for a bit longer, just to see if I can unlock all the cars and upgrades, but I'm not sure how much longer I'll stick with it. The game is fun, but it's not really holding my attention like some other games I've played recently. I'm hoping that the developers will continue to support the game and add new features and content, because with a bit of work, Crazy Mechanic could be something really special. As it stands now, it's just a middling game that's worth checking out if you're a fan of the genre, but not necessarily a must-play.
