CrustRun Review & Gameplay Guide
I've been playing CrustRun for a few days now, and I've got to say, it's been a wild ride. I picked it up on a whim after seeing some streams of it online, and I'm glad I did. The game's all about navigating these crazy, procedurally generated levels as a little crustacean dude, trying to avoid getting squished or eaten by all the dangers that lurk around every corner. It's a pretty simple concept, but it's been executed really well, and the game's got a lot of charm to it.
One of the things that really drew me in was the game's visuals. The levels are all these vibrant, colorful environments that are just a blast to explore, and the character designs are all really cute and quirky. I love the little details, like how my guy's eyes bug out when he's scared, or how the enemies all have these weird, twisted designs that make them look like they're from some kind of fever dream. It's a really unique look, and it's definitely one of the things that sets CrustRun apart from other games in the same genre.
Now, I know some people might be turned off by the fact that CrustRun is a pretty tough game. I mean, it's not uncommon to die a dozen times in a row, just trying to figure out how to get past a particular section. But for me, that's all part of the fun. I love the feeling of finally beating a level that's been giving me trouble, and the sense of accomplishment that comes with it. Plus, the game's got a really generous checkpoint system, so you never feel like you're losing too much progress when you die. It's all about learning from your mistakes and trying again, and that's something that I really appreciate.
As I've been playing, I've also been noticing that the game's got a pretty strong focus on exploration. There are all these hidden secrets and paths that you can discover, and finding them is a big part of the fun. It's not just about getting from point A to point B - it's about taking your time, looking around, and seeing what kind of cool stuff you can find. And the game's got a really good balance between exploration and action, so you're never feeling like you're just wandering around aimlessly. There's always something to do, whether it's fighting off enemies or trying to solve a puzzle to unlock a new path.
If I've got any criticisms, it's that the game can be a bit frustrating at times. There are some sections where it feels like the game is just being cheap, and you're dying not because you made a mistake, but because the game just decided to throw a bunch of enemies at you all at once. And the controls can be a bit slippery sometimes, which can make it hard to navigate some of the tighter spaces. But overall, these are pretty minor complaints, and they don't really detract from my overall experience with the game.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend CrustRun to anyone who's looking for a challenging but rewarding platformer. It's a game that's all about perseverance and exploration, and it's got a lot of heart. The game's got a really strong sense of style, and the gameplay is just a lot of fun. I'm not sure how much longevity it's going to have - I've already beaten the main campaign, and I'm not sure how much replay value there is - but for now, I'm just happy to be playing it, and I'm excited to see what the developers do next.
