Everwild Survival Review & Gameplay Guide
I just spent the last 20 hours playing Everwild Survival and I have to say, it's been a bit of a rollercoaster ride. The game had me hooked from the start with its beautiful graphics and immersive soundtrack, but as I delved deeper into the game, I started to notice some major flaws. The gameplay is pretty standard for a survival game - you spawn in a random location, gather resources, craft tools, and try to stay alive. It's a formula that's been done before, but Everwild Survival does it pretty well, with a few tweaks to keep things interesting.
One of the things that really stood out to me was the game's environment. The world is beautifully rendered, with lush forests, snowy mountains, and even a few abandoned settlements to explore. The attention to detail is impressive, from the way the trees sway in the wind to the sound effects of wildlife in the distance. It really feels like you're dropped into a living, breathing world, and it's easy to get lost in exploration. However, as I started to explore more, I realized that the world isn't as big as I thought it was. There are only a few biomes, and once you've seen one, you've seen them all. It's a bit disappointing, especially considering how much potential the game had.
The crafting system is another area where the game shines. It's pretty complex, with a ton of different recipes to learn and craft. I spent hours gathering resources and crafting new tools, and it was really satisfying to see my character's progression. The UI is also pretty intuitive, making it easy to navigate and manage your inventory. However, the game's survival mechanics are a bit lacking. Hunger and thirst meters deplete way too quickly, making it feel like you're constantly scrounging for food and water. It gets old fast, and it's not like there's a lot of depth to the survival mechanics either. It's pretty basic, and I found myself wishing for more complexity.
As I played more, I started to notice some major performance issues. The game would stutter and lag, even on my high-end PC. It was frustrating, especially during intense moments like when I was being chased by a pack of wolves. The game would freeze for a split second, and then I'd be dead. It's not game-breaking, but it's definitely annoying. I also encountered a few bugs, like getting stuck in a tree or having my character clip through a rock. It's not a huge deal, but it's definitely something the devs need to work on.
Overall, I'd say Everwild Survival is a decent game, but it's not without its flaws. The game's environment and crafting system are definitely the highlights, but the survival mechanics and performance issues hold it back. If you're a fan of survival games, you might enjoy it, but it's not a must-play by any means. I'd recommend waiting for some patches and updates before jumping in, as I'm sure the devs will address some of the issues I mentioned. With a bit more polish and refinement, Everwild Survival could be a really great game, but for now, it's just a solid, if unremarkable, experience.
I'm still playing the game, and I'm curious to see how it develops over time. The devs seem to be active and engaged with the community, which is a good sign. If they can address some of the issues I mentioned and add more content, I could see myself sinking a lot more hours into Everwild Survival. As it stands, it's a fun, if flawed, game that's worth checking out if you're a fan of the genre. Just be prepared for some frustration, and don't expect a perfect experience.
