Mario Wheelie Review & Gameplay Guide
I just spent the last few hours playing Mario Wheelie, and I've got to say, it's been a real mixed bag for me. As a huge Mario fan, I was excited to dive into this new game, but it's definitely not what I was expecting. First of all, the gameplay is all about racing and doing tricks on these crazy wheelie bikes, which sounds like a lot of fun, but it gets old pretty quickly. The controls are pretty tight, I'll give it that, but the tracks themselves are just so repetitive and lacking in variety.
I mean, I've played Mario Kart to death, and that game has some of the most iconic tracks in gaming history, but Mario Wheelie's tracks just can't compare. They're all just kinda... samey, you know? You've got your generic desert track, your generic jungle track, your generic city track... it's all just so familiar and unoriginal. And don't even get me started on the lack of power-ups - I mean, where's the shells, the bananas, the mushrooms? It's just not the same without them.
But despite all my complaints, I have to admit that the game does have its moments. When you're cruising along, doing wheelies and stunts, and just generally causing chaos, it can be pretty exhilarating. And the graphics are actually pretty nice, especially when you're playing on a big screen. The colors are all bright and vibrant, and the characters all look like they just jumped out of a Mario cartoon. It's just a shame that the gameplay can't quite live up to the presentation.
One thing that really disappoints me about Mario Wheelie is the lack of multiplayer options. I mean, this is a Mario game, for crying out loud - multiplayer is like, half the fun! But no, in this game, you're stuck playing solo, with no option to play with friends or family. It's just such a weird omission, especially considering how much fun Mario Kart's multiplayer mode is. I guess what I'm saying is, if you're looking for a fun multiplayer experience, you're better off sticking with Mario Kart.
As I played through Mario Wheelie, I couldn't help but feel like it's just a bit of a cash-grab. I mean, it's not like Nintendo put a lot of effort into this game - it feels like they just phoned it in and hoped that the Mario name would carry it. And you know what? It probably will, for a lot of people. But for me, it's just not enough. I need a game that's gonna challenge me, that's gonna make me laugh, that's gonna give me a reason to keep playing. And Mario Wheelie just doesn't do that.
Overall, I'd say that Mario Wheelie is a pretty average game. It's not bad, but it's not great either - it's just kinda... there. If you're a huge Mario fan like me, you might get some enjoyment out of it, but if you're looking for a really great gaming experience, you might want to look elsewhere. Maybe wait for a sale or something, because at full price, it's just not worth it.
