Save The Princess 1 Review & Gameplay Guide

I just finished playing Save The Princess 1 and I have to say, it was a bit of a mixed bag for me. On the one hand, I loved the old school pixel art style and the chiptune soundtrack, it really added to the overall retro feel of the game. The story is pretty basic, you play as a knight who has to rescue a princess from a dragon, but it's not like that's the main focus of the game or anything. The gameplay is where it's at, and for the most part, it's pretty solid.

The platforming is tight and responsive, and the level design is clever and challenging without being frustrating. I loved the way the game introduced new mechanics and enemies as you progressed through the levels, it kept things fresh and exciting. The boss battles were also a highlight, they were tough but not impossible, and it was really satisfying to finally beat them. But, there were a few times where I felt like the game was being a bit too cheap, like when you'd get knocked back into a pit by an enemy or a stray projectile. It's not a huge deal, but it did get annoying at times.

One thing that really stood out to me was the game's difficulty curve. It starts off pretty easy, but as you get further into the game, it gets increasingly tough. I'm not gonna lie, I died a lot, but it was always because I messed up, not because the game was being unfair. And when you finally beat a tough level or boss, it feels amazing. I did feel like the game was a bit on the short side, though. I beat it in about 5 hours, and while that's not terrible, I felt like there could have been more to it. Maybe some extra levels or a harder difficulty mode would have added some replay value.

Despite its flaws, I had a lot of fun playing Save The Princess 1. The game has a lot of charm and personality, and it's clear that the developers are passionate about what they're doing. The game's also really cheap, so even if it is a bit short, it's not like you're breaking the bank to play it. If you're a fan of old school platformers, you'll probably love this game. It's not perfect, but it's a great little time waster, and it's definitely worth checking out if you're in the mood for something retro.

I do wish the game had a bit more polish, though. There were a few times where I encountered some weird glitches or framerate drops, and it took me out of the experience a bit. But, overall, the game runs pretty smoothly, and the glitches weren't game-breaking or anything. I also wish there were more options for customization, like being able to change the controls or something. It's not a huge deal, but it would have been nice to have a bit more flexibility.

Overall, I'd definitely recommend Save The Princess 1 to fans of retro platformers. It's a fun, challenging game that's sure to bring back some nostalgic feelings. Just don't expect a super long or complex game, and you'll be golden. It's a great little distraction, and it's definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something to play in short bursts.
